Contrary to what the title implies....

This space is for me to pass on, what I hope will be, interesting bits of information.

Please feel free to email me any of your HOT FLASH idea's, concerns, or interesting topic's.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Before you read the the next posting please read the following...

My son chose the Coast Guard for many reasons; we are from Alaska, he has been flying since he was eleven years old, and the programs they offered would begin him on the path to realizing his plans for the future.

While we were at the MEPS Center watching parents saying their good byes to their sons and daughters who were leaving for Basic Training in all of the branches of the military, I couldn't help but realize that while I was lost in my own sadness that my son was leaving home - I saw a much bigger picture as I looked around the room.

I am a proud mother; I have an amazing and talented son who will be working and protecting American soil.

The point was not lost though as I watched all those young men and women that stood there, hands raised, swearing their oath, honor, and lives to our country, that many of them would soon be leaving to fight, protect, and defend our country overseas.

To all the parents, families and members of the military, I extend my deepest respect, honor and gratitude.  My prayers and support are always with our troops.

Empty Nester

Whatever that is, I think I just became one.

Our son Joe left today for basic training with the

United States Coast Guard.

He will spend the next 8 weeks at Cape May, NJ. and then begin his service in The Great Lakes area.

His long term goal is to fly rescue helicopters for the Coast Guard back home in Alaska.

It is not like this is the first time he has been away from us - He has been to Boot Camp and Flight Camp with the Civil Air Patrol and has been living at the Airport Fire House for the last two years.

But this is different - It is not like turning a page in a book, it is more like ending one book and getting ready to start another one - I am not ready to start a new book - I was really enjoying the first one.

We went through this once before when our oldest son Lee left the nest.  He moved out but was always close to home until he moved three months ago to Las Vegas.  We were just adjusting to that and now this.

My little boy is becoming a man.  Now, like his brother before him, he will be off on his own adventures and no longer sharing ours.

I am so excited and proud of him, but as a Mother, I wasn't ready - I don't know that I ever will be.

To the Coast Guard - Be good to my little boy - Don't make me come up there!

Whether you are a mechanic, welder, fabricator, or all of the above, you are going into a male dominated profession.

Just the fact that you are a woman is going to have all eyes watching your work and testing your knowledge.  Know your stuff - Prove yourself and stand out.

You are not only making a place for yourself, but for those that want to follow in your footsteps.

You could be the one to inspire and open the doors for others.....

While I just gave that advice, that is the part I have trouble with.  I am burned out on being "tested" by others as to my knowledge of motorcycles.  I know what I know and if I don't, I will sure as hell learn it.

It's a real pain to constantly have to prove yourself and feel you are judged more critically just because you are a women

MUST LOVE DOGS.....

As a direct result of the efforts of Duane (Dog) Chapman, a serial rapist is now serving his 124 year sentence.  I won't mention the perv's name here because think he has already had his 15 minutes of fame.

"Dog" and his wife Beth, did this on their own, with their own money and before they became TV personalities.

Anyway, "Dog" is now at risk of being extradited to Mexico to face charges.  Why after three years would the Mexican government be pushing this?  Could this be an effort to re-direct our attention away from much more important issues between the US and Mexico?

On top of everything else, a technical foul was declared and "Dog" wasn't allowed to collect the reward for capturing this piece of dog poop.

Please keep an eye on this story and if it comes to it, give what you can to his defense fund.  For further details go to Dog The Bounty Hunter

AM I WRONG HERE ? ? ?

I am so &^%$@ mad I can't think straight; so I need your help to see if I am off base here.

I received an e-mail from a lady who purchased some merchandise from the WWC On-Line Store.

She said that since we are in Illinois and she is in Illinois, she thought she should have been charged sales tax on her purchase and included her credit card information so that we could correct our over site, which is cool and would have been nice if it ended there, but.....

She went on to tell me all about her BA, MBA, CBS, NBC and all her other creds and went on to say she wanted to make sure she was right about this issue so SHE FORWARDED THE INFORMATION TO A SALES TAX SPECIALIST and wanted to let us know that she was right on this one.

First of all, we do not own or operate the WWC On-Line Store - It is owned and operated by a company in PA under a merchandise licensing agreement.  Only purchasers in PA are required to pay sales tax on purchases.

Here is the problem - I am a Federally approved manufacturer of motorcycles; just like Harley, Honda and all of the other manufacturers - That means that I have jumped through more hoops than a circus lion to get approvals from DOT, NHTSA and every other bureaucratic acronym.

The last thing I need is some misguided do-good er bringing unwarranted, unwanted, unnecessary attention to my company.  This company is 100% mine and it is 100% my money at risk here.  I don't want or need to spend money defending my company against something that I didn't do.

I'm from Alaska and in Alaska we make it a point to stay out of other people's business.

OH, and here is the kicker - At the end of the e-mail she tells me of the other charitable efforts she is into and wants to know if I would donate some merchandise to her! !

Here is the question - Am I overreacting to this?  Please e-mail me your opinion to christine@wickedwomenchoppers.com

I will let you know the results next week.

Thank You

Christine

The Results Are In......

First, thank you to everyone that responded to the above question.  100% of the e-mails I received said that I was right (ne-ner, ne-ner, neeee-ner).  The kindest thing said was that the "Tax Lady" should get a life.  Thank you everyone.....There for a while, I thought I might have been that that thing where you are not right (you know the "W" word).

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS

Regardless of your political, religious or personal position on the Middle East situation - Please support our troops. Our country has made a decision and our people in uniform are bound by duty and honor to follow the orders of their commanders. Again, I am not taking a position for or against our policies, I am simply asking everyone to take a minute and think about or pray for our men and women who are in harms way. I doubt that any of us don't know or know of someone that is involved in this conflict. My husband served in Vietnam and is forever changed because of it - Both from the war itself and from the treatment he received upon his return. We must, no matter what our feelings on the conflict, support the individuals who have and will continue to give so much of themselves.

JAY LENO -

(You can call him Jay, but I just call him "J")
OHMYGODOMYGODOHMYGOD ! ! So Monday we are having phone problems (Again) so we have the phones forwarded to my Husband's cell phone. He walks into the shop and hands me his cell phone and says "Jay Leno is on the line and would like to talk to you". RIGHT! Jay Leno is calling me. So I take the phone and IT REALLY IS JAY LENO! ! I am not one to get star struck, but this is a motorcycle guy - In fact he said he owns 80 of them. I asked if he would like to make it 81, but he said he needs to slow down a little, but maybe.......... Anyway, he said he loved the bikes and thought I had done a great job and he would put the pictures of the Shady Lady up on the wall in his office. And...No he didn't invite me on the show....YET!!!

FAMILY PLOTS

If you haven't seen this one, you have got to watch it. It airs on A&E and I think it is one of the best reality shows on TV. Shonna Smith is kind of the jack-of-all-trades - she is a Mortician, Funeral Director, Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Fight Referee and one of the hardest working and dedicated people I have ever seen. What I see to be her biggest contribution is the dignity she brings to her clients and their families.

What I am trying to get to is that she has worn OCC's shirts on the show and I thought that she should have something a little more feminine; like a Wicked Women Choppers Shirt - So I sent her one. SHE CALLED ME and put me on the speaker phone because everyone wanted to talk to me (They wanted to talk to me!!) She said that when they start filming again after the first of the year, she will be wearing our shirts. So tune in and see the show (And The Shirt).

DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER
Another one of my personal favorites and to make things even better, Dog’s Wife Beth not only wore one of my shirts on the show, but she cut it up and wore it backwards so our logo would be seen! How nice is that. Thank You Beth…….

In loving memory of Shelly Smothers-Bonney.   Shelly was one of the twins that work here in the shop.  She, along with her daughter, were killed in a horrific traffic accident January 25, 2006.

Also killed were her fiance Ray Ruzich and two of his three daughters. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of all of them.
